Our Artists in Practice

Material Matters’ artists are currently working on a wide range of projects for summer 2019 including exhibitions, research and study. Here’s a selection of our current practice:

Angelo Madonna is supporting his professional practice with study for an MA in Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores University which has included group shows at both LSAD and The Well Studios plus performance at Fabric District festival. His photography of found forms Fictional Landscapes has recently been on display in the Baltic Triangle.

John Elcock has recently completed a commission to create an icon of St George and the Dragon to mark the bicentenary of John Ruskin. He is currently exhibiting at Corke Gallery and MOMA Machynlleth as well as developing 3D work for a new show later this summer, based on found objects.

Josie Jenkins is currently showing at Sites Refigured at Link Gallery, Dean Clough Mills Halifax until the 1st Sep 2019. She has also announced details of a new research project supported by ACE. Refractive Pool is a project exploring contemporary painting-based practice in Liverpool , through events, exhibitions and critical writing. Sign-up for updates of this exciting project now here.

Miriam Sakwa and Simon Job recently collaborated in Forms of Abstraction at The Well Studios in which Miriam exhibited recent linoprint work and Simon new works from his survey series. Simon is also currently exhibiting at the Liverpool Art Fair until 1st Sep 2019.
